Brand Story

The formation of Saba Ride was inspired by a visit to Nairobi in November 2021, where the need for a homegrown ride-hailing solution became apparent. It was observed that all ride apps were owned by foreign companies, none of which were Kenyan or African. What started as a casual conversation with a Yellow taxi driver evolved into a mission to launch an African product.

Three months of intensive research and meticulous business development planning followed. Face-to-face meetings with current drivers for other app service providers provided eye-opening insights into the industry’s shortcomings.  Drivers shared their struggles – long hours, sleeping in cars, and the inability to spend time with their families due to high commission fees. These stories resonated deeply and became the driving force behind Saba Ride’s mission.

Saba Ride committed to offering better service with  low commission fees, ensuring that drivers could take home more of their earnings. Our commission fees are as low as 8%, the lowest in the industry. This commitment to drivers and users alike forms the foundation of our brand.
