Frequently Asked Questions

To be able to use the Saba Ride app both riders and drivers need a smartphone, an email address, and a registered phone number.

Both drivers and riders need to download the Saba Ride App from the App store.

Signup using your personal details.

You will receive a OTP code via SMS. Enter the code to unlock your account.

Certainly. All new riders get 30% off the first 10 trips.

Thanks for your interest in joining our team of professional drivers.

We have listed all documents required per country in the “Drivers info” page located at the bottom of the main web page.

Please note that all drivers operating in Poland, Australia, and Zimbabwe should have a bank card which is linked to their bank account. This makes it easy for drivers to move monies earned.

For Riders, open the service app on your Smartphone.

Enable your location. To do that go to your phone settings.

Once your location is on, you are automatically located via GPS. The ‘App Radar’ function shows you all available drivers nearby. You confirm your location with your first click.

In ‘Booking Overview’, you can change your pick-up address manually and, if required, enter a destination.

Confirm your address selection and your options, and you book your ride.

No, the booking continues even if you close the app. A push message is sent just before the driver arrives. If you leave the app open, you can track the driver’s arrival live on the map.

Paying for your ride is easy. There are 3 payment options available:

1. Pay using a credit or debit card (Australia, Zimbabwe and Poland). We use Stripe payment gateway which accepts most debit and credits cards.

2. Pay cash directly to the driver.

3. Pay using the money service on your wallet (In Kenya use Pesapal (for M-Pesa, Airtel mobile money).

4. In Ethiopia use Chapa (accepts Telebirr, CBE, PayPal, and more).

For the international travellers – Stripe is the best option. The cashless or cordless payment method is by far the most popular. How it works, you add money to your wallet. You can use the wallet money for your next ride.

Fare negotiation is a system where riders offer an amount for the distance to be travelled. The drivers have three choices: accept, reject or counter bid. Most times drivers and riders agree on a fare. The flexibility makes our app unique from others. Its a win-win situation. However, in some instances such as busy hours, bad weather or if the destination is not popular for some reason, drivers can demand very high fares.

We do not charge cancellation fees if you cancel your ride within 10 minutes of booking. Longer than that penalty fees apply.

You are charged waiting time per minute after 3 minutes of the driver waiting at your pick up point. The fee varies per country or city.

Yes. Our App allows you the rider or driver to pick the gender of your choice. This added security feature is particularly useful for the female travellers or female drivers. Riders can choose drivers. The reverse is true. Please check how the driver or rider has been rated by others.

Giving the driver a tip at the end of your trip is entirely optional.

A tip is an appreciation of the driver service and the amount you give is entirely up to you.

Our drivers are professional. A tip will greatly supplement their earnings and we highly appreciate your support. All drivers keep their tips.

Before you give a tip here are some considerations to make:

Was the driver friendly or courteous?

Was the driver driving safely?

Was the car clean and tidy?

Was the car comfortable ( was AC temperature ideal for the weather?)

Would you book this driver again?
